Our Team

The Aggie Marine Robotics Robosub Team (AMR) is a multidisciplinary team of engineering students from Utah State University composed of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineers. The goal of our team is to design and build an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) capable of a variety of tasks. Each year we participate in the international AUVSI RoboSub competition, sponsored by the office of naval research in San Diego, California. The competition is comprised of tasks that emulate realistic challenges that civilian and military AUVs are expected to perform. Our submarine must be capable of identifying its environment and interacting with the obstacle course without any human intervention.

The Robosub Competition

robosub competition

"RoboSub is an international student competition. Student teams from around the world design and build robotic submarines, otherwise known as Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV). The behaviors demonstrated by these experimental AUVs mimics those of real-world systems, currently deployed around the world for underwater exploration, seafloor mapping, and sonar localization, amongst many others." - AUVSI Robosub website

Our team has attended this competition consecutively for the past two years. Last year we performed better than ever, we qualified for the semi-finals and scored 16th overall. We plan on attending the 2021 competition with our newest and smartest submarine yet!
