Poseidon Class Submarines
The AMR team's submarines for the 2018 and 2019 year were Poseidon and its twin PoGen2. These submarines are the second and third generation of our submarine, built by the mechanical, electrical, and software engineers at Utah State University. The quality of Poseidon sets it apart from previous generations of submarines. Poseidon contains cutting edge hardware, has an easy to maintain design, and cleaner code.
Poseidon Gen 1
The submarine Poseidon is an autonomous underwater vehicle designed for the AUVSI RoboSub competition by the Utah State RoboSub Team. The design and build of Poseidon has been developed by 20 members over three years from 2013-2016. Over the course of the engineering process the vehicle has been fully modeled by SolidWorks CAD software. With three years of combined research and development, this first Poseidon vehicle is an improvement on all previous designs. Poseidon was the team's lightest, most durable, and most experienced submarine.
Poseidon Gen 2
The USU RoboSub Team’s autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), PoGenII is designed to be capable of underwater navigation as well as completing various mechanical tasks. PoGenII is the second generation of the Poseidon model used in previous years. Improvements include refined vision recognition, electrical performance, and the addition of a mechanical dropper and torpedo launchers. PoGenII is designed to be completely modular to allow for a more adaptive and efficient underwater vehicle.
